WebCallDirect offers free calls to any regular land-line in various popular destinations (see panel)

To counter misuse of our network we have limited these free* calls for our trial users. If you want to enjoy longer free* calls to these destinations, just top up your account by buying credit.

WebCallDirect Freedays
Buying credit entitles you to 60 Freedays (unless stated otherwise). This means you can call all countries marked as "Free" in our rates list for a period of 60 days at no costs. When the 60 days are over, the normal rate will be charged for these destinations. You can get more Freedays by topping up your account with credit.

Fair Use and Restrictions
New users can try WebCallDirect out for free for a total of 60 minutes. During this trial period you can only call the destinations marked as free. Register your account by buying credit in order to extend your free calls.

Registered users get max 200 minutes per week of free calls, measured over the last 7 days and per unique IP address. Unused free minutes cannot be taken to the following week(s). If limit is exceeded the normal rates apply. During your Freedays you can call all destinations listed as "Free" for free. When you have run out of Freedays, the normal rates apply. You can get new Freedays by buying credit.

How much credit can I give to my customers?
You can allow as much credit as you want to your customers. BUT if there is no credit on your reseller account, your customers wona??t be able to call, no matter how much you have allocated them.

How do I make free voip calls?
Just download and install our application. Buy credit and you can make FREE calls to lotst of destinations worldwide.

How long does my credit last for calls?
At WebcallDirect, your credit will NOT expire.

What's the deal with the Freedays?
Buying credits entitles you to 60 Freedays (unless stated otherwise). This means you can call all countries in the free* destinations list for 60 days at no costs. When the 60 days are over, you will keep your credit, and the normal rate will be charged for these destinations.

When do call charges take effect?
Call charges take effect once your customer is connected to the telephone number he has dialed i.e. once the call has been answered. If there is no answer or the line is engaged you will not be charged for the call.

Can a company sign up?
Yes, just tick the 'company' box when registering. The payment conditions and how the service works is exactly the same as for residential customers.

I got the message "Fair use policy exceeded" what does that mean?

WebcallDirect offers free* calls to various destinations. However we reserve the right to limit these free calls if excessive or fraudulent use is suspected. Please consult our terms of use for details.

How much does it cost for someone to ring my Voip-in number?
This depends on where the other person is calling from and which telephone provider they use. The call should be charged at normal geographic rate (and if ringing from abroad a normal international call to your country) so the caller should check with their own telephone provider how much they charge for normal calls to landlines.

"Fair use policy (FUP)" what does that mean?
We offer calls to various destinations. If you make ordinary use of our services you will generally not be confronted with our Fair Use Policy; we reserve the right however to limit these calls if excessive or fraudulent use is suspected. Should you exceed our Fair Use Policy limit you will be charged normal rates for your calls.

Downloading The lowrate voip

The software is free to download and you can always get the latest version here. If you have any problems using low rate voip, please first make sure that you are using the most recent version of the software.

To download the low rate voip to your computer, simply click the download link. Save the installation file to your computer. Be sure to remember where you saved the file (for instance the Desktop).

Installation

Double-click the installation file you just downloaded to start installing the lowrate voip on your computer.

Starting the low rate voip for the First Time
The first time you start the low rate voip, you will be asked to choose a User Name and password. The User Name and password fields are required in order to use the lowrate voip. You can choose any name but it must be at least 6 characters in length. If the name is already in use by someone else you will have to try another name.

Making your first low rate voip call

For a call to any online low rate voip user, simply enter the username in the textbox and click the dial button. For a call to any regular phone, enter the desired number in the textbox and click the dial-button. If you are calling a land line in one of our free destinations, the call will be placed at no costs at all. For all other calls, you will be asked to buy credits first.

Improving Sound Quality

To get the best possible sound quality, we highly recommend you try the following:

* Use a headset with a built in microphone. Headsets are available for purchase at most computer retailers and will dramatically improve sound quality.

* Tell your friend to get a headset. Note that voice quality is affected by the equipment on both sides of the conversation. The best way to ensure high quality sound is to have a headset on both ends of the conversation.

If you don't have a headset, you are still likely to improve sound quality if you:

* Use headphones instead of your computer speakers
* Try moving the microphone closer or further away from your mouth
* Use an external microphone (note that most laptops use low-quality microphones)
* Update your soundcard drivers
* Note that if you don't own a microphone, you may be able to use a pair of headphones as a temporary solution by connecting these to the microphone jack of your sound card. Try it!

Tabs
low rate voip is divided into several tabs, each with a specific purpose.

The Contacts Tab shows other low rate voip users which you have added to your Contact List. The icon next to the User Name indicates the Online Status of these users. You can right-click any User Name in your Contact List to see a number of choices for communicating with, or managing this user in your Contact List.

The Dial pad Tab shows you a graphic representation of the buttons you find on any ordinary phone, and they work accordingly.

Speed-dial text field

The Text Box near the bottom of the main lowrate voip window allows you to call directly by entering their User Name or phone number and pressing enter.

Using a SIP device

Focus ReCoder

"Focus ReCoder" application designed to automate the batch process of video & audio processing. Application processes list of different source video files and rebuild them all into the same type, bitrate, resolution and codec.

From the source video file application produces following one or several files:

* video trailer for preview (first 25 seconds from original video)

* full video version with file size appropriate for downloading encoded with less compression ratio (base video)

* full video version with less file size, encoded with more compression ratio (compact video)

* video with encoding settings specified by user (custom)

Focus ReCoder application provides unlimited number of encoding schemes with different resolution, bitrate, filename prefixes/suffixes, codecs, video duration etc. Thus it's possible to produce several output video files with different parameters from single one.

The processing starts when user clicks "START" button. Application reads and remembers the list of original files in the folder. Then it continuously processes each file in its corresponding order.Processed source files are moved into another folder after procession (if specified in application settings).

Result files are created in result files folder. Result file names are generated from source ones by adding suffix. The result video file extension is ".avi" or ".mpg" regardless from its source one. Possible source file extensions are: ".avi", ".mpg" or ".mpeg".

Application uses system codecs for source video file decoding and result video encoding.
Application has logging feature. The following actions are logged:

* procession stop (after last processed file)

* file procession start with its file name

Instructions for use

Connect camera (web cam) and microphone to your computer and adjust volume level. Run Focus VideoPhone application.

In the main application window click "Connect To" . Add entries to the address book by clicking "New" button. Enter the IP address or DNS name of the person you want to talk to (or simply computer name if you're using LAN). Enter the name or nickname of the person into "Name" field. Additional information can be entered into "Info" field (not mandatory).

The person you're calling should also run Focus VideoPhone application. To connect he or she select the desired record in the address book and click "Connect". The connection will be established when user's confirmation.
